Hi All,
I need an urgent help. I have been trying to connect my external Hp monitor with my HP pavillion Laptop via USB type c cable. Tye external monitor plays the sounds or music from the videos that i open on my Laptop but it doesn't display anything. I get a message on my Laptop stating that some of the USB functions can be limited. Can someone please help me with this issue? What can i do to troubleshoot this

You're very welcome.
Yes, you can use a HDMI cable.
The service manual indicates your notebook has a HDMI v.2.0 port.
Check your monitor's specs to see what version HDMI it uses.
I never checked the specs and just bought a HDMI cable that was the right length for my needs.
I'd get a HDMI 2.0 cable which would be backward compatible to older HDMI versions if you don't know your monitor's HDMI port specs.

Hi:
According to chapter 1, page 2 of the service manual, the USB-C port only supports data transfer.
Maintenance and Service Guide HP Pavilion Gaming 15 Laptop PC
USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port (supports data transfer only)

Hi Paul,
Thanks a lot for the info! I noticed that it also has an HDMI port. Can I use an HDMI cable to connect my laptop to my External Monitor, which also has an HDMI port? Do I need to keep any specs in mind for the HDMI cable?
