I will preface this by saying this HP is the worst pc I have ever purchased. What a piece of trash compared to the usual Dells that we purchase for work.
This PCs CURRENT issue:
The screen now fades to black. It started in the upper right corner, spreads down the screen, then another appears near the middle, and sometimes to the right. These stripes get darker and darker until the entire screen goes black. Then it wont do anything. Wont reboot, wont respond, nothing.
Eventually, after unplugging and plugging in, holding the power down in between for 10-15 seconds while unplugged... EVENTUALLY, it will come to life and tell me there is a CMOS error and we need to restart to reset. Then it will come up, and the slow fade to black starts again.
Things I have already done:
1. updated video drivers
2. updated windows
3. ran a full system diagnostic with no errors found
4. checked the bios to find the black fading lines are there as well
5. while running hours long diag the screen had faded corners but did not fade out.
6. This machine gets SO hot, I wonder if its overheating? But nothing is showing as being actually wrong with it.
If this is the screen going bad, I will not be surprised. This is the most expensive boat anchor I have ever had the displeasure of working on.
