HP Envy Recline AIO USB to HDMI Output

HP Recommended
HP Envy Recline Touch Smart All-in-One 27-k350xt
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I have an HP Envy Recline Touch Smart All-in-One 27-k350xt, Windows 8.1 that I purchased at the beginning of 2015 new, and I am trying to connect the monitor to my TV via HDMI cable. I have read and understand that my model only has an HDMI-in plug, so I have resorted to trying to connect to the HDMI via one of my USB-3.0 ports.

So far I have had no luck.

I originally had an adapter that didnt require any drivers and my picture would flicker constantly on my TV.

I then tried a Star Tech adapter, which did absolutely nothing after I installed the driver.

I just tried an Insignia adapter, installed the driver, and again nothing, except Microsoft wants me to keep restarting my computer.

Can somebody please recommend a USB 3.0 to HDMI that they have had luck with? Am I doing this incorrectly?

Please let me know.

Thank you!

Hey there! @Marcus88, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand you have issues using USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter on your PC.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your PC?

Did the USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter come with the drivers or software?

Have you tried checking with a different HDMI cable?

USB device won't detect automatically unless you have installed the drivers for the adapter. If you don't have any drivers installed the adapter might not work.

Also, I have checked the specifications of your PC and your PC has an HDMI port not an HDMI in port.

You can connect a straight HDMI cable from your TV to the Envy AIO PC.

Even If you have an HDMI in port on your PC. You can still use the port as a regular  HDMI port.

Refer the product specifications page of your PC for more information. Click Here

Try the steps recommended below to connect another PC\TV to an all-in-one using HDMI In port.

Insert one end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI-out port of the media device. (game console, disc player, another computer, etc.)

Insert the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI-in port on the computer, located on the lower-left side of the monitor.

Press the HDMI IN button, which is located on the underside of the lower-left corner of the monitor.

The computer switches to HDMI mode.

To switch back to PC mode, press and hold the HDMI IN button.

Refer this article to know more information about connecting the HDMI to your PC.
