Hello, I just purchased an HP Omen 25l. I have tried to connect it to my monitor with the HDMI and all three Display Ports and none of them worked. What else can I try?

Hi @lillipupzilla,

Welcome to the HP support community.

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble connecting your monitor through the DisplayPort and HDMI ports — I can imagine how frustrating that must feel when you're eager to get everything set up and working smoothly. Let’s take a moment to check together how many of those ports are active on your PC. In some systems, especially desktops with a dedicated graphics card, only the ports on the graphics card itself will be active, while the others might be disabled.

Please help us with your HP unit serial number or the product number in a private message for further assistance.

I have to admit that I am getting a little frustrated. Every number on the sticker I have entered to put in a ticket with tech support is apparently invalid and not the serial. I sent pictures to a sales rep and he couldn't find the serial either but he did give me the product number, see attached screenshot. I've tried to call two different HP support numbers several times over the last week at different times and go through all those menus only to be told they're closed. Chat support is a useless bot. You are the first tech support human I've managed to get a reply from after all this trying.

I think it would be beneficial to keep this on a public forum for anyone facing a similar problem in the future, so they might be able to find in it in a search and try the suggested fixes before they get the ring around from HP tech support like I did. Can't you just help me here?

I also thought to talk to Nvidia tech support since they made the graphics card and they were fairly helpful. They had me try the different ports, monitor settings, unplugging and clearing the power, etc. and at the end of it all said to contact HP.

Hi @lillipupzilla

Thank you for getting back. The Pc shows it's gone with the NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3050 (8 GB GDDR6 dedicated). Is this the actual card you have on the Pc? Also, could you please share the image of the pack panel where we can find the ports to check and help you better?

 Keep me posted

Hi Vikram the Great,

Thanks for getting back to me. That is correct, the GPU and all other parts are stock and came with the PC. I did put two 16 gb ram cards in it, which are the compatible hyperx ones purchased directly from HP. I didn't think about trying it with only the 8 gb stick it came with, so maybe that's worth a shot just in case.

Please see pictures of PC back and interior. I can confirm the graphics card is connected to the motherboard and the fan on it spins. It seems like everything in it turns on just fine.

Hi @lillipupzilla

Thank you for letting me know, I would request to use eight just 1 16gb in the slot or as mentioned just try the 8gb installed and request you to check.

While doing this, try a BIOS restore and try graphics driver update.

BIOS Restore :
1) Shut down the computer, keep the  USB keyboard and Mouse plugged.
2) Hold down the Windows and B buttons together while the computer is still turned off.
3) Turn on the computer and continue to hold the Windows and B buttons until a BIOS Recovery screen appears.
4) Follow the on-screen instructions and click on OK

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello again Vikram,

Restoring the BIOS is not something Nvidia support had me do (I did try hitting esc, delete, or F2 while the computer started), so I was happy to try that. I re-installed just the 8gb ram stick that the computer came with, then tried the BIOS restore buttons with a displayport cable hooked up. After several minutes of waiting it didn't work so I tried again with the HDMI cable and still nothing. 😞

Thanks again for helping me out with this. I really like the design of the HP omen tower and it's a good deal for the components it came with, so I really hope there's a way to fix it so I can keep it.

Hello Zoey,

Thanks for the reply. I see you have sent me a PM asking me to call phone support. I've already stated that phone support has taken me in circles. I've called several times, go through all those menus and prompts, and get told they are closed even in the middle of the weekday. I had a hard time finding my serial number on the PC so that has been a barrier as well. I'm convinced that it is mpossible to talk to an actual person at HP phone support.

I don't really understand why troubleshooting steps can't be public, they could help someone else later.

I think at this point it has been a few weeks of trying so I will probably just return the PC.

I am sorry for the blurry pictures. If you can tell me where to find the real serial number then I am willing to give phone or chat support one last try. Apparently none of the numbers on this sticker are valid serial numbers.
