Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP Pavilion - 17-ab292ms Touch screen not working and the driver isnot found in the device manager and even in at the start up---then entering the BIOS setting it's not shown the touch screen button. i have updated the BIOS and then the touch screen worked, after i shutdown the laptop then opened it again, i tried the touch screen but wasn't working.

Please, advise what's the problem and how i can solve it? this problem didn't show before, and why the driver disappeared?

also, at the Human interface devices, @ I2C HID Device have warning sign, and found the below message at the general properties

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

A request for the HID descriptor failed.

Thanks

There is an update to the touchpad driver

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp81501-82000/sp81891.exe

Also, did you update the chipset firmware when you did the bios update?  It came out a few months before the BIOS update.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp81501-82000/sp81891.exe

the above items were found here

Dear Beemer,

Thank you for the link, the touch screen is working now. but i notice that the link is the same "sp81897" for the update of the touchpad driver and  update for the chipset firmware.

Also, i want to confirm with you, is the below is the last update for the BIOS, because this is the one i have now.

BIOS Version: F.56
Date: 12/22/2020

That is the latest bios listed on the HP website.

Occasionally a newer bios shows up when running the HP Support Assistant and vice-versa

Occasionally I have seen a newer bios listed when selecting "windows 11"  and that bios is missing when looking under "windows 10" for the same system.

Dear Beemer,

Thank you for your help. i hope you can help or guide me in that other problem. Sometimes during start up the laptop, there is power in the device but the screen is black and remain like that without showing anything on the screen, when i try again after several times power On and OFF, the screen start working.

This case happen mot of the time. is it a problem in the graphic card "hardware issue"? or there is a software issue?
