HP Pavilion 24-b240
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP Pavilion 24-b240 touch screen driver went missing after an update. How do I find driver the correct driver and install it? The one I found at HP Support would not install. Saying it's not a ILITEK device. So it will not install. Any ideas out there?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  1. Turn off the computer.

  2. Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station.

  3. Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.

  4. Unplug the power cord from the computer.

  5. For most laptops, press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds to reset.

Next step, BIOS default:

  1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
  2. Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
  3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
  4. Press F10 to Save and Exit.
  5. Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
  6. Follow the prompts to restart your computer and for the missing drivers.

Keep me posted for further assistance.

My touch screen has been working fine on my All-In-One desk top computer for over a year. But not now after the BIOS updated 8 days ago. I first looked in the  Device Manager/ Human Interface Devices, and it doesn't show a touch screen driver listed. I looked in all the listed components files in the device manager and found no Touch Screen Driver. I went into the BIOS Setup Menu and set the  to BIOS Setup Defaults and no change after restart. Then I shut it down pulled the power plug went back into the BIOS Setup Menu again to run a Component Test on the touch screen and there is not one listed. There is no Touch Screen listed anywhere. Where did it go? There is a Mouse/touchpad, but that is checking the mouse not the screen. The updated BIOS version went from vs: .17 to .33 if that is any help. Found that when I tried to revert back to the previous BIOS version: .17, it didn't work because it could not find the file. So it is still not working. Any ideas come to mind out there? Thank you.

@eagleexcel
I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue.
Let's perform a system restore, System Restore returns your computer to the files and settings from the restore point. Your personal files and documents are not affected: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03327545

Perform a touch screen diagnostic test in HP Hardware Diagnostics

Use the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI tests to detect problems with the touch screen hardware.

  1. Connect the AC adapter to the computer.

  2. Press the Power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

  3. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the Startup menu appears, press F2.

  4. When the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics screen displays, click Component Tests.

  5. Click Touch Screen.

  6. There are two interactive touch screen hardware tests. Click Touch Pointer Test first.

  7. Read the on-screen instructions, and then click Run once.

  8. Touch each of the blocks on the screen to erase them. The test ends after you erase all the blocks or after three minutes have passed, and the results display.

Touch the blocks to erase them

  9. Click Main menu to return to the main screen.

  10. Click Component Tests, and then click Touch Screen.

  11. Click Drag And Drop Test.

  12. Read the on-screen instructions, and then click Run once.

  13. Drag each orange rectangle to the box indicated by the arrows with a finger or a stylus. The test ends after you reposition all the blocks or after three minutes, and the results display.

Drag the blocks to the correct empty box
