HP Pavilion 590-p0008nl

Hi everyone!
the issue is this: when I start my computer the screen remains blank with the sleep mode, just like the PC is powered off.
The other components seem working: fan starts, the power botton light is on, there are no beeps or any other error sounds.
It seems the PC is working fine except the monitor! Of course I can't access to the BIOS settings and/or boot from USB ecc., becouse there is no video output.
Supposedly nothing special happened in the last few days: no firmware upgrade, no graphic driver upgrade etc.

The computer specs are these:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06073872
Three months ago I upgraded RAM and drive (from 8 to 16 GB + NVMe SSD).

  1. Firstly, after turning the PC off, I disconnected the power cord then I pressed the power button for a minute.
  2. Monitor: I checked the cables (HDMI and power cord): they are OK; The monitor is fine (it works with other computers); anyway I also tried with other monitors.
  3. Graphic Card: I tried with VGA motherboard port; I also tried with disconnecting the Graphic Card itself; NOTE: the integrated graphics was not disabled and it worked even with the graphic card plugged on.
  4. I checked the RAM modules (they seem OK)
  5. I tried to reset BIOS (disconnecting the battery + Clear CMOS jumper on the mobo);

I haven't found many other infos on the Internet to solve this.
It's a very frustrating situation!

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

Hi @paolo_2023

Please follow the steps to recover BIOS:

1. Turn off the computer and be sure that the AC adapter is connected to power.

2. Press and hold the Windows + B keys, and then simultaneously press the power button.

3. After 2 to 3 seconds, continue to press and hold the Windows + B keys, but release the power button. You might hear a series of beeps.

If the HP BIOS Update screen is not displayed, repeat the previous steps but press the Windows + V keys. If the screen is still not displayed, your computer might not support the feature or there is a hard drive issue.

If the power light turns off, the power button was held too long. Repeat the previous steps, making sure that you press and hold the power button for only 2 to 3 seconds.

If a BIOS recovery message is displayed repeatedly, see Recover the BIOS using a USB recovery drive.

If a message displays that the computer improperly shut down or a boot problem is detected, follow the on-screen instructions to resolve the error.

If Windows starts, update to the latest BIOS version. Go to HP Consumer Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) (Windows) or HP Business Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) for more information.

Hi Treeko,

I tried multiple times the steps you suggested me (with Windows + B/V keys), but a blank screen is still what I get 🙁

I have a wireless keyboard, but I also tried with a keyboard with the cable. Anyway I heard no beeps.

Maybe this model do not support this feature.

I wouldn't be so sure about a possible drive failure becouse I also tried disconnecting the HDD and the SSD NVMe.

The BIOS should already be to the latest version, but I am not able to check this right now becouse there is no video output.

Thank you for your help and support! 🙏
