HP w1907 19 inch LCD Monitor

For anyone that has an ATI Radeon HD4200 all I can say is to update the graphics by installing the catalyst Vision Control Center at https://www.amd.com/en/support search for your specific graphics if not for this HD4200. Make sure you select your OP system and if it's a 32 or 64-bit. I installed 64bit since I'm running Windows 10. However, I think my issue is a firmware update for my HP w1907 because the last time it kept buzzing turning off and on I installed the firmware update from https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-w1907-19-inch-widescreen-lcd-monitor/3709665 and it worked again but since HP no longer supports this monitor I don't get any further updates on it and device mng says it's up to date device working fine but it still keeps making the buzzing turning on and off the screen. I can extend the display and run dual monitors with a Dell 15" or 19" and shows up as a Generic non-pug and play monitor which works just fine but not the HP. As of today 04/01/2024 before reinstalling the HP monitor drivers it was showing up as a Generic PNP and now it shows the actual monitor type.

Geeksquad says they can fix it and it's a free diagnostic if you're a member, as I informed them I think all it needs is the firmware update, but I'm not a member and don't want to spend so much money just to fix a 22" screen.

I assume the buzzing comes out of the speakers and not the power supply.  If the buzzing occurs when the audio cable is not plugged into your computer then there is a grounding problem between the power for the monitor and the audio circuit.  Either put up with it or get a new monitor,

If the problem only occurs when the audio cable is connected to the computer get a ground loop isolation cable, about $5 USD.

Great. I will try that and yes the sound is coming from the speakers but the flickering on and off only stopped when I last installed a firnware update prior to end of support. I assume the audio cable is inside the monitor, would the ground loop isolation cable fux the flickering?

Not clear what is happening.  You say the flickering stopped after a firmware update but you are asking if the isolation cable will stop the flickering..

???

You have the audio cable plugged into the computer to get sound do you not?    Are you using the speakers inside the monitor for sound or do you have another sound system?

If the buzzing stops when the audio cable is removed from the computer then the isolation cable should fix the problem,.

If you plug a headphone into the audio jack do you hear a buzzing when you turn the computer off?  If so, the problem is the computer.

If the buzzing is occurring when the video is flickering you need a new monitor.

I have bought monitors from Goodwill in the $15-$20 range that are HDMI and a full 2K and work fine.
