HP Recommended
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

My HP22 W monitor is not connecting to my partner's MacBook Pro 2011. I plug it in via a hub (with HDMI), and it doesn't detect.

I know the monitor is working because it does output to my 2016 MacBook Pro okay through the same cable. I also know all the cables are working because they are the same cables I use to connect to my 2016 macbook pro. So this doesn't seem to be a hardware issue. I also know the hub lead I'm connecting to my 2011 MacBook Pro works fine because the mouse and keyboard plugged into the same  hub work as well.

There seems to be a problem with the HP monitor and Mac books speaking to each other. I also had similar issues with my MacBook Pro 2016, and after playing about with it for a few hours, it starting working, though I'm not sure why. However I've tried for ages with the 2011 Macbook Pro and no joy.

Again, to reiterate, all the cables and leads work fine in other combinations of hardware. So there is no faulty equipment.

Any suggestions?
