How do I connect Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon 6th gen to Pavilion 23xi monitor?

which shows it has  VGA, DVI-D and HDMI inputs.

 

I don't know your Lenovo, but from the following information, it has HDMI port (Two USB 3.0 ports and a full size HDMI connector should keep those with older peripherals happy😞

Therefore you can simply use HDMI cable to connect them. Example (a very good one):
