HP 27xq

So i got a new monitor today the HP 27xq
It boasts 1440 at 120hz but for some reason my xbox wont let me, its only allowing 120/1080p or 60/1440p
I read something about not all monitors can display 1440p at 120hz through HDMI. I would have simply got a 24 inch if i wanted 1080p and 120hz for much cheaper.
I checked the specs on HP website but couldnt find anything about if it can display 1440/120 through HDMI, it just simply says thats the max it can run at... Feel like ive been lied to a bit here with this.
People ARE running 1440p/120hz on xbox one x through HDMI, so i know it is possible.

Any info would be great thanks
