HP Envy 27 4k UHD Monitor
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought this monitor to use on the Xbox One X and my computer. I'm running a R9 390x and i7 4790 with 12gb ddr3. Shouldn't be a bottle neck there.

I'm having an issue where I only get 2560x1440 however it's on HDMI1!

I'm using a high speed HDMI cable. I've gone back to the comptuer store and tried displayport1.2 to Hdmi2.0 and the displayport adapter. The HDMI2 port will give me 2k/60fps and 4k/30fps. How is this possible? HDMI2 port is HDMI1.4 and HDMI1 port is HDMI2.0. Why would I get 4k on the HDMI1.4 but not the HDMI2.0?

Meanwhile on the Xbox One X, only HDMI1 port will output UHD. I get an error trying to use the HDMI2 port which makes sense because it doesnt support 4k/60. This doesn't seem to add up at all. On the computer, I can only get 4k on HDMI port 2, but it's at 30fps. On the Xbox One X, I only get 4k/60 on HDMI port 1 like I should.

Why does a high speed HDMI cable not output 4k/60 on HDMI1 port for PC?

It seems like a consumer would buy this monitor hoping to get 4k on their computer and when they plug in the HDMI cable into either port, it doesn't work.

I've ordered a Displayport to Displayport1.2 cable to see if that works. Otherwise, I'm going to try using USBc adapter

Yes I have updated all drivers, installed the HP monitor's drivers, that is not the issue. It seems this monitor is

I got my displayport1.2 cable today and 4k/60 worked flawlessly. I think the problem was that my graphics card hdmi port was not 2.0.

Displayport seems to be the way to go in general these days

Hi,

You didn't mention enabling AMD freesync so you must have forgot about this function. Also, check the display adapter properties and make sure that you are running the refresh rate that you desire (144 hz ?).

Check here for AMD freesync validation.

I did not forget about the freesync option. I have it enabled on the monitor and the GPU. Besides, this would not simply solve my resolution problem. Freesync is for framerate.  I don't think you understood my problem. I'm not getting 4k at all on an hdmi2.0 cable and hdmi2.0 port

We have to take line of thinking that if something isn't mentioned then the OPs are not disclosing what has been done and implemented. What you haven't disclosed is what the community needs to know.

I would make more suggestions but I suspect that you would come back and say that you have already tried that.
