Hi @JayKanna,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

The Insert key is often used in various text editing and spreadsheet applications to toggle between Insert and Overwrite modes. On many modern laptops, especially those with compact keyboards or specialized function keys, the Insert key might not be readily available or might be accessed through alternative key combinations.

For your HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-ew0000, you might need to use a different method to access the Insert function. Here are some steps to help you find or simulate the Insert key:

1. Use Alternative Key Combinations

  • Try Function Key Combinations:
    • On some laptops, the Insert function might be combined with another key. Besides Fn + E and Fn + PrtSc, you can try other combinations such as:
      • Fn + 0 (zero) or Fn + I
      • Alt + 0 or Alt + I (in some cases, the Insert function might be available through these combinations)

2. Check Keyboard Layout Settings

  • Review Keyboard Layout:
    • Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language.
    • Select Keyboard and check if there are any options related to keyboard layouts that might affect the placement or function of keys.

3. Use On-Screen Keyboard

  • Activate On-Screen Keyboard:
    • Press Win + R, type osk, and press Enter to open the On-Screen Keyboard.
    • The On-Screen Keyboard might have an Insert key visible, and you can click it to simulate the Insert function.

4. Use the Character Map Utility

  • Character Map Utility:
    • Open the Character Map utility by pressing Win + R, typing charmap, and pressing Enter.
    • Some characters or symbols might be accessible here that could simulate the Insert function in specific contexts.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @JayKanna,

Please find the remaining steps below.

5. Try External Keyboards

  • Connect an External Keyboard:
    • If you have an external keyboard available, connect it to your laptop and check if it has an Insert key. Using an external keyboard can be a temporary workaround if the Insert key is essential for your tasks.

6. Update Keyboard Drivers

  • Check for Driver Updates:
    • Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).
    • Expand Keyboards, right-click on your keyboard device, and select Update driver.
    • Ensure that you have the latest drivers installed.

These steps should help you find or simulate the Insert key on your HP ENVY x360 laptop.

Check the User Manual:

  • Review the user manual for your HP ENVY x360 15-ew0000 to see if there are any specific instructions related to accessing or simulating the Insert key. Click here

If you still cannot find a way to access the Insert key, consider reaching out to HP Phone Support.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
