HP ENVY Desktop PC TPE01-4000i (6V9A5AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I just got a new HP Envy desktop PC (TPE01-4000i) and want to add a second monitor with an HDMI port via a PCI installed graphics card. When I add the card to the computer,  the embedded HDMI port that came with the computer does not work. Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?

You're not doing anything wrong -- as a PC with onboard video disables that when you add a video card.  You can use one or the other, but not both.

Hi, I appreciate your response, but I don't know that I understand why. I had essentially the same setup with my old Lenovo and I added the second monitor via the PCI (using the same graphics card) and it worked fine. Both computers have a single PCB with all the I/O connectors installed on it.

That's a new one on me -- but I have never used a Lenovo, so have no experience with them.

But all the HP laptops and desktops I have used over the decades supported either of the video options, but not both.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond, thank you.
