Monitor black out

HP Recommended
Pavillion 2136
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Having trouble with my monitor.  Auto Adjust in Progress then screen blacks out then Check Video Cable then back to readable screen.  Very frustrating.  Just started happening.  Desktop is 7 years old now.  Bought new VGA cable.  The one end fits great into the tower but the other end that connects to the monitor does not screw in.

@silverhair67

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

Firstly, I would suggest try with different cable which holds the other end of the cable and also update the computer graphic and chipset drivers

however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Not sure how to update computer graphic and chipset drivers.  The problem just started out of the blue.  Not after an update.  The product number is H2M97AA.  Thanks.
