I just purchased an HP Pavilion Power 580-023w Gaming Tower from Walmart. On the video card, there is DVI, HDMI, and display port connections. This the 2nd one, the first one I returned because of this exact problem. No video with DVI or HDMI. The only way to video output is using a display adapter with DVI. I've checked it with another monitor just to rule out that. This PC has a pretty high-end video card, a GTX 1060 3GB Graphics. Why it won't use the DVI or HDMI is driving me crazy. I'm getting ready to return this one as well if I can't figure it out for another model pc. What am I missing...seems to be pretty straightforward.

Hi @spyfox,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
This is a wonderful place to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips.
I reviewed your post and understand that you are not getting any display from the HDMI port or DVI on your computer.
I'll be glad to help you 🙂
In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.
- What is the model of your monitor connected to the computer and does it support HDMI?
- Have you tried connecting the computer to your TV or any other display using the HDMI?
Meanwhile, I recommend you update the bios and the graphics driver from the below link and check if it helps.

I have the exact same machine purchased from Walmart I bought the machine to use an Oculus Rift on and for some reason the HDMI ports didnt work only the HIDMI to the video card after searching for the problem I couldnt find a solution so thats whwn the IT in me kicked in so what I did is went inot bios and enabled them they are disabled by default since an NVIDIA Geforce card is instaled and the great part is the fact that there is an Intel video card built onto the boardÂ

wow...unbelievable. I sure wish I would have thought of that before this whole fiasco happened. Yes..I did notice it had some onboard video outputs. But both of them were blocked off on the i/o shield...first time I've seen that. Glad you figured out the problem. Its a smoking hot deal just for the 200.00+ video card in this rig. My wife didn't need a gaming rig, so I found another pc that has no video issues for me to pull my hair out.
