On hp 500-054, DVD player says "no disc in player'"

Using power DVD player says no disc in player when trying to play DVD.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
  • Have you made any hardware/software changes?
  • Did you make any changes to the settings of your PC prior to the issue?
  • When was the last time it worked fine?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps: 

Step 1: Confirm if the disc is causing the issue

Step 2: Run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter

Step 3: Test the drive for a hardware failure

Step 4: Check the drive status in Device Manager

Step 5: Enable AutoPlay

Step 6: Restore the PC to an earlier state
