What that message means is that you have the display settings in the PC to a resolution higher than that -- and you need to lower them to those settings to get the monitor to work.
You would need to connect a monitor that can handle higher settings and once that is connected and the PC up and working, lower the display settings on the PC and then reconnect this other monitor. It should work properly then.
