HP Pavilion All-in-One 24-xa0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

on my HP Pavilion All-in-One 24-xa0xxx the screen turns off and on again randomly while using it.

It just goes black and after a second or two it turns back on. It's really annoying. DIsplay drivers are up to date but so far no new driver has helped.

Do you have any recommendations? It's still under warranty but I'd prefer to avoid the hassle of returning it...

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

1) In the search box on the taskbar, type Device Manager, and then select Device Manager from the list of results.
2) In Device Manager, expand Display Adapter.
3) Right-click on the Display Adapter, and then select Uninstall device > Delete the driver software for this device check box > Uninstall.
4) Restart the computer.

Download and install the BIOS, Chipset drivers from this link

Do run the hardware test as well:

1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.

3. On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.

4. Click Extensive Test.

If a component fails a test, write down the failure ID (24-digit code) for when you respond back to us.

Let me know if this helps.

Hello Betty,

I did the first thing which made it even worse: now the screen goes black and i am logged out automatically every like 15s. The screen goes black and when I hit a key I am back at the windows login screen. The computer is unusuable like this.

I think all drivers are up to date. When I try to install BIOS for example, it tells me the version i am trying to install is older than the current version. All drivers have been updated through HP Support Assistant.

I'll try the systems test, but don't think that will show anything as i think this problem is mainly software/driver issues.

edit: I think the auto-logout was related to the last Windows 10 Update as it doesn't happen anylonger after a restart.

However the screen turns black every once in a while as it did before.

Hi Sandytechy, unfortunately even the full reset with deleting all data could not really help.

Everything was reset and I haven't installed any drivers manually. The screen still turns off sporadically and comes back on.

I think it did that even while resetting.

Any other hints? As I said, I'm not really into the idea of sending the PC back as I still think this looks more like a software problem.

If the screen is blacking out after a full OS reset, you may want to connect an external monitor to the device and check if that's working.
