Screen flickers and then goes blank?

HP Recommended
HP Pavilion All-in-One - 27-xa0004na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So I have an All in One. It's awesome... love it.. except 3 or 4 times so far, I've had an issue with it where the screen will start to flicker.. more and more... and then after about 1 minute, the screen just stays black. It's like something is dying... it flickers more and more over the minute until the display finally goes black and the only option is to do a hard power off. I updated the graphics card drivers, thinking that would help, and it seems to have slowed the issue, but it has still done it twice since updating. Any thoughts ?

@fewleh

Welcome to HP support community.

Did you check if the touchscreen works in the BIOS Screen?

  • This would help us determine if this is either a software or hardware related issue, hence I request you tap on F10 during a PC restart and check if you can use the touch feature to select options outside windows.
  • If it doesn't work, this could be a hardware malfunction.
  • If it works, please use the HP website to download the drivers from your windows user account, here's the link: Click here to download > Found it on this website: Click here to view.

Let me know how it goes.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.

Check if you are facing the same issue in BIOS Page.

Follow the below steps to boot into BIOS page.

1. Turn on or restart the computer.

2. While the display is blank, press the f10 key to enter the BIOS settings menu.

If the issue persists in BIOS page this could be a hardware issue.

If not, follow the below instruction.

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from the below Link:

Click here: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also, ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

If the issue persists, refer to this document: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01881110 for Troubleshooting Screen Issues.

Keep me posted, how it goes!
