HP Pavilion 790 - 0808no
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When playing certain games generally more graphically requiring the screen goes black and the fans start running at max speed. Sound is usually still present but sometimes not. I have checked to see if it was a high GPU or CPU temperature but I can reach much higher temperatures without the problem occurring compared to when it does. It have also been able to push the GPU usage up to 98% without the problem occurring. I have updated all drivers but the problem is still occurring.

Hi,

Sounds like a thermal problem or a driver problem.

Don't what else to tell you.

When did this problem start?

Back up data. Reset the PC back to factory specs.

You may have a thermal problem somewhere on the system if the problem persists.

Hello,

I have had the problem for a month and I have tried resetting the PC to factory specs and no solution.

I have however found that the GPU clock speed goes above the limit when it crashes. I think this might be the problem. If you have any ideas how to solve it I would be grateful.

Hi,

HP usually only allows some overclocking on Omen and Obelisk PCs.

I don't know why your graphics card (GTX 1070?) would be overclocked.

Try downloading and running Furmark (Link) to test graphics card temps and utilization.

Select the: correct screen resolution, full screen, and display GPU monitor graph.

Run the test for about 20 minutes to see if symptoms happen.

Regards
