Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
How do I connect a 2nd monitor to my HP envy recline 23k100in ? It seems to have only an hdmi in. Will a USB to hdmi adapter work ?

USB to HDMI adapter? Probably.

When you purchase it, ask if you can see it work.

I don't know where you live, but you can probably do that at Walmart.

I don't think I'll be able to check it before buying it. Is the USB port able to output video through such an adapter ? I thought USB was only for data transfer ?

I have never tried one. I have always used the existing ports and gender changing cables for DVI, VGA and HDMI on my notebooks.

Some of the adapters work and some do not.  Reputable stores have god return policies if the device does not work.

See the following review of a USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter.
