Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently bought an HP - 27" IPS FHD Monitor, and I connect it to my HP Spectre laptop. I noticed that the usbc to usbc display cable also charges my laptop. I recently had my laptop's battery replaced due to damaging it due to overcharging/keeping it plugged in constantly, and I would like to avoid doing the same thing. Can someone either suggest how to prevent this from overcharging or recommend another type of cable for display? The laptop has two usb-c ports and one usb-a port.
