Switched off my 23xi monitor while PC worked on some backups... - HP Support Community

After 7yrs faultless performance, I switched off my 23xi, while a computation/backup program ran and copied files to a drive for 36hrs. When I switched back on, the monitor will not work, though program ended perfectly. I note as OSD flashes up, for only 2 secs, that autoswitccsouce is OFF - (I am using DVI)

silly question maybe but ...
how do you know it's over and if the computer is working if the screen doesn't turn on?
Can you connect another screen?
