Microsoft Windows 11

Touch Screen and Trackpad do not work, bunch of drivers missing in Human Interface and Devices. The I2C driver has an error on it and touch screen and touch pad drivers are missing.

Also touchscreen works in the BIOS and a plugged in mouse also works.

I have tried factory resetting it and redownloading Windows. I have also tried all the steps that HP suggests. No clue what to do. Please help.

Hi @nihitp,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've already tried several good troubleshooting steps. Since the touchscreen works in BIOS and the external mouse works, it indicates that the hardware itself is functioning properly, and the issue is likely related to the drivers or the OS. Here are a few more things you can try:

1. Reinstall Drivers

Since you mentioned that drivers are missing or have errors, try reinstalling them manually:

  • Go to Device Manager: Right-click the Start button and select "Device Manager."
  • Locate Human Interface Devices: Expand this section to find the I2C driver or any other devices with errors.
  • Update Driver: Right-click the device with the error and select "Update driver." Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software."
  • Download from HP: Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your HP Envy x360 13-ay1008ca. Install them manually if Windows cannot find them automatically.

2. Check for Windows Updates

Sometimes, Windows updates can fix driver issues:

  • Go to Settings: Open Settings and select "Update & Security."
  • Check for Updates: Click "Check for updates" and install any available updates.

3. Run Hardware Troubleshooter

Windows has built-in troubleshooters that might help:

  • Go to Settings: Open Settings and select "System" > "Troubleshoot" > "Other troubleshooters."
  • Run the Troubleshooter: Find and run the "Hardware and Devices" troubleshooter.

4. Reset Touchscreen Calibration

Sometimes recalibrating the touchscreen can resolve issues:

  • Open Control Panel: Search for and open the Control Panel.
  • Go to Tablet PC Settings: Find "Tablet PC Settings" and go to the "Calibration" tab.
  • Recalibrate: Follow the prompts to recalibrate the touchscreen.

5. Check BIOS Settings

Ensure that touchscreen and touchpad functionalities are enabled in BIOS:

  • Restart your laptop: Enter BIOS (usually by pressing F10, Esc, or another key during startup).
  • Check for Settings: Look for settings related to the touchscreen or touchpad and make sure they are enabled.

6. Perform a Clean Installation of Windows

If nothing else works, you might need to do a clean installation of Windows. Make sure to back up your data before proceeding:

  • Create a Bootable USB: Download the Windows 11 installation media from Microsoft and create a bootable USB drive.
  • Reinstall Windows: Boot from the USB drive and follow the instructions to perform a clean installation.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
