Is there any way to turn off the multi-coloured lights on the tower without having to open up the tower?  I really don't have the experience and know-how to start fooling around the inside of a computer tower.

No, there is no way to turn the lights off.  At this point, HP hasn't made this option available.  I had an early Phoenix and I couldn't even turn them off inside of the case.

I have the opposite problem - the lights do not come on. How do I get them to come on?

@Rochad, welcome to the forum.

For future reference, it is better if you start your own thread.  Once a thread has a reply or been accepted as a solution, other members don't normally read it.

Now, for your problem.  I suggest that you open the case and find the connections for the lights.  Sometimes during shipping connections can come loose.
