My Omen 40L gives issues with VIDEO Signal lost. Was there an update recently which may have caused this?

Hi @Vic6902,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand how frustrating it must be to lose video signal repeatedly, especially if it interrupts your work or gaming sessions. Let’s go through a few questions and then some troubleshooting steps.

  • Did this issue start after a recent update, either for Windows, your graphics driver, or OMEN-specific software?
  • Do you notice the video signal loss happening during specific activities (like gaming or high-resolution streaming), or is it random?
  • Have you tried using a different cable or monitor to see if the signal issue still occurs?

In the meantime, let's try these steps.

. Update or Roll Back Graphics Driver

  • Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager) and expand Display Adapters. Right-click your graphics card (either NVIDIA or AMD) and select Update driver.
  • If no update is available, you might try rolling back to a previous version if the issue began after a recent driver update. Visit your GPU’s official website to download and install an older, stable version if needed.

2. Check Power and Sleep Settings

  • Go to Settings > System > Power & Sleep. Make sure your PC and display are set to stay on (or at least have a longer sleep timer) to see if the issue is related to sleep settings.
  • Click Additional power settings and choose High Performance or Ultimate Performance (if available).

3. Disable Adaptive Sync (G-Sync/FreeSync)

  • Open NVIDIA Control Panel (or AMD Radeon Settings) and navigate to Display settings.
  • If G-Sync (NVIDIA) or FreeSync (AMD) is enabled, try disabling it as some monitors have issues with adaptive sync that can cause video signal loss.

4. Inspect DisplayPort/HDMI Cable and Ports

  • Check your video cable and make sure it’s securely connected. Try swapping with a different cable and, if possible, a different monitor.
  • Clean the ports on both the monitor and the desktop for any dust that might interfere with connectivity.

5. Check for Firmware or BIOS Updates

  • Sometimes, firmware updates for the monitor or BIOS updates for the desktop can resolve compatibility issues. Go to HP’s support page for your OMEN 40L and check if any updates are available.
  • For BIOS updates, follow the instructions carefully as these updates can help fix hardware communication issues that could cause display interruptions.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
