I bought a webcam and it works fine until I go on a browser that needs to use the camera. Instead of using the webcam I purchased and connected it uses the built in webcam that the computer has. Settings say only the microphone is connected from the webcam but not the actual camera.

Hi @thefemaleuzii,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the settings for your HP Pavilion All-In-One indicate that only the microphone is connected from the webcam, but not the actual camera, there are a few potential reasons and solutions you can try.
- Check physical connections: Ensure that the webcam is properly connected to your computer. If it's a USB webcam, try disconnecting and reconnecting it to a different USB port. If it's an integrated webcam, make sure it's securely connected internally.
- Update webcam drivers: Outdated or incompatible webcam drivers can cause issues. Visit the HP Support website or use the HP Support Assistant software to check for any available updates for your computer's drivers, including the webcam driver. Install any updates found and restart your computer.
- Check device manager: Open the Device Manager on your computer to see if the webcam is recognized and enabled. To access the Device Manager, right-click on the Windows Start button, select "Device Manager" from the context menu, and look for the webcam under the "Imaging devices" or "Cameras" category. If you see a yellow exclamation mark or a disabled status, right-click on the webcam and choose "Enable" or "Update driver" to resolve any issues.
- Privacy settings: On some operating systems, there are privacy settings that allow or deny access to the webcam for specific applications. Check the privacy settings of your operating system and make sure the webcam is allowed to be accessed by the applications you're using.
- Webcam software: Some webcams require specific software or drivers to function properly. Check the documentation that came with your webcam or visit the manufacturer's website to download and install any required software or drivers.
- Test with other applications: Try using the webcam with different applications to determine if the issue is specific to one program. For example, you can try using the camera with the pre-installed camera application, video conferencing software (e.g., Zoom, Skype), or online webcam testing websites to see if the camera works in those environments.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
