Z27 won't run at 60 Hz on Macbook Pro late-2015 Retina, via HDMI nor USB-C to DisplayPort cables

HP Z27
macOS 10.14 Mojave

I have a late-2015 Macbook Pro Retina that says it is able to run an external monitor at 60Hz.

However, my new HP Z27 monitor will only run at 30Hz if connected by an HDMI cable capable of 60Hz, and when I ordered a USB-C to DisplayPort cable supposedly also capable of 60Hz I receive an HP error on-screen that claims the USB-C cable is "unsupported."

Apparently other users on this forum have solved the same exact problem by altering their OSD Messages settings in the Z27's menu, but following these steps did not fix for me.

Any advice ?
