Trying to burn a DVD as I have before but this time my drive doesn't want to format it.

It might help if you outline, in detail, the procedure that is being followed.  If a typical blank DVD is being used and you are making a standard, readable DVD, then it does not need to be formatted.  The writeing software should just write the prepared data to the DVD.  What authoring software and writing software is being used?

BTW: only DVD-RW needs to be formatted.
