Hi @ScottDuck,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

A faint line appearing down the center of the page when copying on your HP Smart Tank 7600 printer is often due to debris or smudges on the scanner glass or automatic document feeder (ADF). Here are steps to resolve this.

Clean the Scanner Glass:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the scanner lid and clean the scanner glass with a soft, lint-free cloth dampened with a glass cleaner.
  • Ensure that both the large flatbed glass and any smaller ADF glass (if your model has one) are cleaned thoroughly.
  • Dry the glass completely before closing the lid.

Clean the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF):

  • If you are using the ADF to copy, open the ADF lid and clean the narrow ADF glass strip.
  • Check for any paper fragments, dust, or toner smudges that may be stuck inside the ADF mechanism.
  • Also, clean the ADF rollers gently.

Test with Different Originals:

  • Try copying different documents to see if the issue persists. If it only occurs with certain originals, it could be an issue with the specific document (e.g., fold marks or imperfections on the page).

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Ensure your printer firmware is up to date. You can do this through the HP Smart app or the HP website.

Once the glass and ADF are cleaned, try copying a document again to see if the faint line issue is resolved.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
