@buzzsaw2 If the issue persists on more than one video player, I suggest you update the graphics card and chipset drivers using the HP website: Click here to find and install the same,

Once done, ensure the saturation levels for video are set to normal under setting for each player and try playing other videos as well, to check if its the video or the computer that's causing the issue.

I downloaded the 2 updates and installed them, but i still have the problem, and i do not know where to find the saturation controls.

after installing the 2 files,i had to do a restore back a couple of weeks.I then installed the 2 files again, and when i tried to view a video,i got a CRASH DUMP ,so i restored back again. Now i don't know what else to try.

@buzzsaw2 I suggest you try with a new administrator user account and check if that works

if it doesn't, I suggest you run a hardware test on the video card using the below steps:

  • Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
  • Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
  • On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click Component Tests.
  • Click Video/graphics card Test.
  • Click Run once (extensive), or Loop until error.
  • While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component display on the screen.

If a component fails a test, write down the failure ID (24-digit code) for when you respond back to us.

after pressing the F2 key,the menu that came up is V!.02 which had run tests on CPU,connection, and boot, which all passed. There was a (smart test)waiting for input from me.

I couldn't get to the Video/Graphics card test.

@buzzsaw2 In that case, check if you've got an option to run an extensive hardware test and complete that instead.

I suggest you back up your data and perform a System Recovery.  Please refer to this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01867418
