Thanks for your assistance.

I have used the diagnostics software and it returned no faults.

I have discovered what needs to be done in the BIOS - part of my original question.

I am now testing and will see if the graphics card faults in the longer term, if so I should now be able to use the on chip graphics to rectify the problem, hopefully.

Thanks for everyone's help.

For those of you who do come across this and want to know what I found - see below.

Go into BIOS - Escape button during boot and F10 to access BIOS settings

Enable on board graphics in the device options - set to disabled if a graphics card is installed. Seems it can be left as enabled with graphics card installed without any issues (so far).

Go to Graphics Options and set the on board graphics to primary (see below) - set to non boot by default when graphics card is set as primary - hence no output when graphics card removed from mobo.

Haven't actually done this yet as still testing the graphics card, but it should work - might just have to change the cord over once the settings have been changed - need to have card in to see the boot and BIOS and make changes - I'm assuming once I change the primary graphics setting to on chip graphics the screen will go black and the cord will need to be changed to the other port (covered by default when graphics card installed) in order to see the screen to  complete the changes and reboot.

Will update if anything new comes to light.

For those of you following this post - the instructions listed below (or above) are not useful.

Thought they would work, but they didn't work as planned, so disregard.

Thanks for all those who tried to assist.
