Hello. I have a question. I opened my laptop today planning to do some work, when my pc froze and then split into two parts, the part on the bottom was black, and the one on the top had the image on the screen split into five. I will try to attach a photo. I also want to point out that my cooler is loud and I have never took it to be cleaned but I am planning to after all of this is over. If anyone would tell me what could be the problem and if I need to replace anything please do. Thank you06732705-3db6-4d69-bf9e-a27763a8d660.JPG

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • When was the last time it worked without these issues?
  • Have you updated Graphics and Chipset drivers?
  • Have you checked the display on an external monitor?

let’s try these steps to resolve the problem:

I recommend you attempt to access the BIOS screen by tapping on F10 while the computer is restarting,

If the issue persists in the BIOS screen which is outside windows, it would confirm a hardware failure.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

The thing is this doesn’t happen all the time. It did happen quite often a few months ago but now it stopped except this particular day. I will try your ways and see if it still happens.
The graphics card I updated a couple of months ago. and as I said I couldn’t really test on an external monitor but I will try and do so. Thank you , I will be back if the problem persists
