2g or 5g

We had to call out Virgin Media to rectify a broadband issue and the engineer mentioned that our desktop only operates with 2g and NOT 5g connection. Is this changeable in settings or designated by internal fittings.

Hi:

2g and 5g wireless capability is hardware dependent.

The wifi card your PC has is only capable of working on the 2.4 GHz wireless band.

The card would have to be replaced with a dual band wifi card.

The problem with that is, if there is only one antenna connected to the present wifi card, you couldn't upgrade to a dual band wifi card because they need two antennas in order to work correctly.

I suggest you purchase an external dual band usb wireless network adapter to connect to your network.
