Pavilion p7-1054 PC

My boyfriend's computer used to occasionally come to an error screen when starting up. This error would state "ERROR: System Fan Has Failed. Service PC to prevent damage to the system. Press <F2> to continue".  Usually, I would hit F2 on the keyboard and it would boot back up. This error recently resurfaced but this time pressing F2 does nothing. The keyboard and mouse light up and the error shows up on the screen but I cannot do anything. I am not sure how to fix this as I cannot get into the computer. Usually, the headphones light up when the computer is on but those are not lighting up. I cannot figure out how to get past this error message.

Hi @bwelc

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

This looks like a hardware issue, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer.

Have a great day!

Hi,

Try this: with the unit off, remove the side panel. Turn the unit on. Look for whichever fan is NOT spinning. try spinning it up with your finger. If it spins up then use CTRL+ALT+DEL to reboot the PC. Now it should boot without the error.

One of the fans (probably the CPU fan) is either seized or starting to seize. You'll need to get it replaced if you want to continue to use the PC.
