for some reason my system lost its wifi adapter and when I reinstall it, it does not take?

Your machine came with Windows 8 and no support for Windows 10.

Please try the following driver for Windows 10

 

        http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71571.exe
