Example: HP 870-244
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The other day bluetooth not available. Tried to uninstall and reinstall with out success. Get code 10. No selection to turn it on or off. Tried troubleshooting with no success.

In device manager I get a yellow sign and sometimes it will disappear and reappear continuously.

Do I need to replace adapter? and which one do I need?

Thanks for any help

Hi:

The parts list for your PC indicates that it has an Intel 3168 AC wifi/Bluetooth adapter.

Did you try updating the Bluetooth driver to the latest version on the Intel website?

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/29088/Intel-Wireless-Bluetooth-for-Windows-10?product=9485...

You would first have to go into the windows control panel>programs>uninstall a program and if there is an Intel Bluetooth software program listed there, uninstall it.

Then restart the PC and install the updated driver.

If that doesn't get the Bluetooth to work, you would need to replace the wifi card because the Bluetooth is co-located on the wifi card's circuit board.

If such a replacement is necessary you may as well upgrade the wifi card to this model.

I will add that replacing that component is not easy because the antenna cables are extremely delicate.

You're very welcome.

If the BT is not showing up in the device manager, on the top of the window, click the view tab and then select Show hidden devices.

The Bluetooth device manager category should now appear in light shade and the Intel Bluetooth adapter should be listed there.

See if uninstalling the device, check the uninstall driver box and restarting the PC gets it to show up again.

If not, then you can try reinstalling W10 to rule out an operating system problem, or as I posted earlier, replace the wifi card which is not very easy to do.

Otherwise, the easiest thing to do would be to purchase an external USB Bluetooth adapter.  I use this one for example.
