Hello all,
I have recently bought this nice HP Pavilion 23-q109nb. It had Windows 10 already installed and everything was working fine except the Wi-fi. The device was listed in the Device manager , no errors no nothing , but I could not get to see the list of networks so that I can connect to them. I tried going into Control Panel \ Settings, and once I clicked Network and internet , the window would automatically close, every time I tried this.
I reinstalled Windows 10, and now the Wi-Fi is working , but the Bluetooth does not. I checked the Bluetooth with the old OS and it was working fine when the Wi-fi wasn't.
I installed both Broadcom & Realtek drivers from the HP website, but nothing.is working . Troubleshooting says that "Bluetooth is not available on this device".
I double checked with the HP website just to be sure, even though I checked and it was working before, and the Specs page says that it has : "Integrated Bluetooth 4.0 and Wireless LAN 802.11a/b/g/n/ac featuring Dual-band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) 1 x 1 technology".
Does anybody have a clue on how to solve this so that I have Bluetooth again?
Thank you in advance ! 🙂

Hi:
According to the parts list for your PC, it comes with an Intel 3160 AC wifi adapter.
I recommend that you install the last Bluetooth driver that Intel released for that model wifi adapter directly from Intel.
The first driver on the top left side of the page is for W10 64 bit.

I have another question for you if you don't mind. I thought to ask you as well because i saw that you helped somebody else fix the same problem on a Compaq 8000 Elite.
In device manager, PCI Simple Communications Controller is displayer as having no driver installed, and also SystemFirmware under the Firmware tab.
Any idea on what are the exact drivers that I need to install ?
Thank you in advance ! 🙂

Hi:
You need this driver for the PCI Simple Communications Controller...
This package provides the Intel(R) Management Engine Components Driver for supported desktop models that are running a supported operating system.
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp84001-84500/sp84442.exe
System firmware is a category in the device manager that should be fine as long as there isn't a ! mark next to it.
If a driver needs to be installed, I see a system firmware driver listed on the support page, under the chipset driver section.
This package provides an update to HP Consumer Desktop / Notebook PC for supported models running a supported operating system.

Regarding the System Firmware error , there is a ! mark next to it "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".
I have tried the package that you suggested but after running it, it says "The system SSID is not matching the SoftPAQ SSID, skip the ME firmware process..."
As for the PCI Controller, the package you provided solved the issue.
Thank you!

You're very welcome.
Do you recall if the system firmware device manager category was OK when you first reinstalled W10?
The reason I ask is because the same thing happened to me on a different PC.
The System firmware device manager category was fine, and then a Windows Update installed an updated driver for it, and I got the code 10 error.
What worked for me was to right click on the device, select Uninstall, check the uninstall driver box.
When I restarted the PC, it reinstalled itself normally.
Then that update tried to install itself again, and I ran the Hide Windows update utility that I zipped up and attached below, so the update would not ruin things again.
