I had my machine locked and a voice command not to turn of my computer and 2 alerts on screen. Said to contact HP support and the , rep stated they are HP support team. Wanted to install Viral and computer protection to get rid of a virus threat. I aggreed, but for some reason, i think they are spam. Does anyone know of them and are they legit Gooseman33

Hey @Gooseman33
This is definitely a scam.
As for scammers in the community:
Be alert for scammers who may be posing as HP support representatives, particularly those who claim to be “HP Helpdesk”.
Only call numbers from people who have a HP badge on their profile page.
If you think you have received a fake HP Support message, please report it to us by clicking on the blue "Report Inappropriate Content" button above the message in the Private Message portion of the Community.
Thank you!
Kind regards,
MarcusC

I reviewed your post and I understand that your computer is locked.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
It looks like a scam. I recommend you contact support directly and they will assist you in this regard.
Here is how you can get in touch with support.
1)Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/
2)Select the product type.
3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.
4)Select the country from the drop-down.
5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
