Hp printer office jet pro 8720

HP Recommended
office jet pro 8720
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We have had nothing but problems with this printer since we bought it.

It constantly goes offline requiring us to unistall and reinstall.

It forces us to replace all 4 cartridges (1 black and 3 color) even though we dont use color.

HP offers us no consolation or support.

Printer may as well be a piece of junk.

We have 2 other older Hp printers that work well.

Unhappy.

Hey there! @unhappy6-_, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand your printer goes offline constantly.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Does the issue persist when you make a copy from your printer?

Is the printer connected by wired or wireless connection?

Download and run print and scan doctor on your PC and check if it helps.

Refer this article to know how to run print and scan doctor on your PC.

Also, try the steps recommended below.

Right-click “Command Prompt” and select “Run as administrator“.
Type net stop spooler then press “Enter“.
Type del %systemroot%\System32\spool\printers\* /Q then press “Enter“.
Type net start spooler then press “Enter“.
The print queue on your Windows should now be cleared. Type exit, then press “Enter” to exit the command window.

Also, uninstall the printer drivers from root level and install the full feature printer software.

In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
Select your HP printer.
Select Uninstall.
In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
Click on Drivers tab.
Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.
Select OK.

Update the full feature printer software using this link.
