I am looking to upgrade my wifi wireless card in my Pavilion P6-2107C to fastest possible.

Upgrading my internet service to 1gbps.  My router is a TP-Link dual band 2.4/5GHZ 1750AC.  My wireless WIFI card is 802.11b/g/n that only supports up to 150mbps.  Would like to upgrade to 802.11ac to better use the 1750ac speeds.  What wireless card or antenna is best for this upgrade?  Any help is appreciated.  I am also going to max out the RAM to 16GB.

Hi:

Open up the PC and check how many antenna cables are attached to the Ralink wifi card in there now.

There has to be two antenna cables in order to upgrade to a dual band AC wifi card, by simply replacing the current wifi card.

If there are two antenna cables, you can direct swap the Ralink wifi card with this one...

Broadcom BCM4352 802.11ac 2x2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 combo   HP Part # 724935-001.

You should be able to find the card on Amazon or eBay.  It should cost between $25 and $35.

Do your search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.

With an excellent wifi signal, the card has an 867 MBPS maximum throughput.

That is the best you will get from any HMC form factor wifi card that you can direct swap.

Before replacing the wifi adapter, uninstall the Ralink wifi driver in the device manager.

If there is only one antenna cable connected to the wifi card your PC has, or If 867 MBPS is not enough horsepower for you, then you will have to look into getting a PCIe x1 AC wifi card, or external USB AC wifi adapter of your choosing.

Okay, I opened up my PC and found that there is only one antenna on the wifi card.  I think I'll go with the PCIe x1 AC wifi card solution to keep everyting internal.  Do I need to removed the existing card? I assume so.

You're very welcome.

I would, since the card in there now is not a even a combination wifi bluetooth card, it would serve no purpose, except to use system resources.

Just make sure that you insulate the antenna cable terminal from making contact with the motherboard.

I would also uninstall the Ralink wifi card driver before removing the card and installing the new one.
