Pavilion p7-1054
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Did my HP Pavilion model p7-1054 come with a network (wifi) board for 5Ghz, and if not, is it easy to replace the 2.5Ghz card with a 5HGhz card?

Hi:

According to the specs below, your PC comes with a single band (2.4 GHz only) wifi adapter.

Anytime you see a wifi N spec with a suffix that ends in b/g/n, that means it is a single band wifi card.

Dual band wifi N cards have suffixes that end in a/b/g/n, or a/g/n.

The motherboard specs below indicate that is comes with a 1 PCI Express x1 mini card socket, which is where the wifi card would be located.  The socket is the white connector located on the left side of the picture, across from (to the left) of the black video card slot.

In order to upgrade to an internal dual band wifi card, there has to be two antenna cables connected to the wifi card in there now.

So, shut down and unplug the PC, open it up and let me know if there are two antennas connected to the wifi card in there now.

Here is the service manual...

If there are two antenna cables present, I will give you the info for a suitable internal dual band wifi AC card with bluetooth that you can replace the current wifi card with.

If there is only one antenna, the easiest thing to do would be to purchase an external dual band AC wifi adapter of your choosing.
