Is there a way to use an older keyboard with a dongle on a newer PC ?

I have an old  HP keyboard that I'd like to use on a newer HP PC. Problem is, the  old keyboard uses a dongle and there's no USB  port on the monitor of the newer system. The tower that sits on the floor has a USB port but it apparently it too far away from the keyboard to be able to communicate with the  keyboard that sits on the desk. I've also checked to see if there's any place on the keyboard to store the dongle - nope!  Suggestions?
