HP laptop 7 Gen Core i3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought this 7 Gen Core i3  14-inch SSD Hard Drive Laptop on Thanksgivings day. It connects to my home wifi easily without any problem.  I brought it to my office and it simply cannot connect to the OPEN wifi, usually for visitor or guest.  The secure wifi is not available for us as we have our own wire connection.  I tried all the methods listed over the internet without success.

It just keeps repeating the connecting process.

My IPAD Mini simply connect to the same open wifi with just a click of the mouse.  My friend just bought a Chrome Book and he has no problem connecting to the same open Wifi.   I tried to update the network adaptor driver also didn't work. Can someone tell me why other devices can connect but this laptop cannot.

Hi

Results for " HP laptop 7 Gen Core i3" (16244)

So a targeted answer is unlikely, just a wild guess  on my part.

First of all you need to know whether you have the correct frequency, 2.4 or 5.0.

Then you would want to connect, after having cleared your previous home connection.

So...

I suggest   D, E, F, G, W, X and Y finishing with Z to exit.

If in doubt please ask.

Copy and Paste into Notepad,
Save as A2Z.bat
Double click to run.

Those are difficult steps to try as I only understand the first three lines - that is to use a .bat file to run.

Thanks.

And did you?

Run the batch file?

HP Recommended

Not yet try as I am on vacation.

You said it was your wild guess.   What is the chances of making my laptop not operationable if I run the batch file? Can it be McCafee anti-virus that came with it and has been alerting me to subscribe with the $$.  I have uninstalled it and will try to see it work without the damned McCafee.

HP Recommended

Hi

McAfee maybe.

I use Bit Defender, Lo-Cost/No-Cost alternative.

The command lines in the batch file?  Do them individually, like this...

WinKey + R and type      cmd.exe pause

Then type       getmac

Then type       ping 127.0.0.1

etc etc.
