Hi all - in need of help. My desktop is only offering an Ethernet connection to internet. Desktop is 3 years old and has never had a wireless connection issue until 6 months ago. Similar issue happened where the unit would not pick up on any available wireless network and not even offer wireless as an option. Not sure what happened but it suddenly worked until now where it has gone back into Ethernet only mode and modem is not in conducive location to connect direct.

Please advise if anyone has seen this issue before and maybe has a solution.

@Dooner185,

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues with the wireless connection on your computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

What is the version of the operating system you are using?

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

Reset the TCP/IP settings on your PC:

1. Go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.

2. Right click on the command prompt icon and chose Run as administrator.

3. In the window that opens type "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" without quotes, and press enter.

4. Restart your PC and test.

It may also help to reset the winsock catalogue:

1. Go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.

2. Right click on the command prompt icon and chose Run as administrator.

3. In the window that opens type "netsh winsock reset" without quotes, and press enter.

4. Restart your PC and test.

Reinstall the network adapter drivers:

1. Download the drivers from here but do not run them yet.

2. Go to your start screen/menu and type Device Manager.

3. Expand Network adapters.

4. Right click on the wireless adapter and choose Uninstall.

5. Run the downloaded drivers from step 1.

6. Restart your PC and test.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

It can be due to these reasons, Either your wireless adapter is disabled physically or under Network Connection. Solution: Check for any physical switch or button on your laptop that has a Wireless symbol on it and turn is ON. Also type ncpa.cpl in the RUN window right click on the Wirless Network Connection and Enable. Wireless adapter drivers are missing. Solution: Go to your laptop support site and download the latest wireless adapter drivers and install them.

Get back to us if the issue still persists.
