Officejet printer keeps getting kicked off wifi

Hello,

I have an older printer and it keeps getting kicked off the wifi. Every time I have to print something out, I have to figure out how to reconnect it which is usually just unplug everything including the router and plug back in. This time it's not working. Once it starts working, it usually doesn't have issues. Any ideas? Really frustrating!

@Hudson_Cake, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Which device are you using to print?

  • Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network.
  • This printer supports only 2.4GHz network. So, the PC should be on the 2.4GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

If the printer is not connected to the wireless network,

On the printer screen, go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore network settings

Go back to Network > Wireless > Wireless setup wizard and select your network.

Once the printer is connected, you may assign a static IP address to the printer only if the intermittent connectivity issue persists.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you! It is now connected to wifi, but now is not "recognizing" the knock off brand ink that's compatible. I've used that same ink for the last couple years. I'm not playing the "cheap printer, but they get you on the ink" game.

@Hudson_Cake

Glad to know that the printer is connected to the network now. If you are using a non-HP ink cartridge, Hp cannot guarantee its functionality.

Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document to resolve ink cartridge errors.
