Skype / Google Hangout Video Chat: Other person is not audible

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

During video chat (in Skype / Google Hangout), I cannot hear the other end person's voice, whereas the other person can hear me. However, the speaker is working while youtube / some other media player is ON. This is really weird. I would highly appreciate for any proposed solutions to this issue.

I understand that you have an HP Notebook - 15-ay085tu. I read that during video chat in Skype/Google Hangout, you cannot hear the other person's voice. The other person can hear you clearly though. I read that otherwise, the audio works properly. 


I would like to know the following information to assist you better:

  • When was the last time your voice could be heard by the other person?
  • Did any software changes or updates happen on the laptop?

Meanwhile, I did some research for you and suggest you to perform the steps as described in detail from this HP document. These steps help in resolving various issues with the webcam.


I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Let me know what happens. Cheers!
