Does my hp pavillion s5-1224 have a whitelist? I am looking to purchase a mini pcie wifi card and want to know if it will work? Here is the product i wanted to install on my desktop.Screenshot_20190211-070538_Amazon Shopping.jpg

Hi:

 

I do not believe it does.

 

However, I don't see from the product specs that your model came with an internal wifi adapter.

 

I would assume if that is the case, then the two required antenna cables that connect to the wifi card are not present.

 

I recommend you check to make sure there are two antenna cables inside to connect the wifi card to.

 

If your PC does have two antenna cables inside, you may as well upgrade to a better card than the one you selected...

The card is readily available on eBay or Amazon, and doesn't cost much at all.

 

Do your search by the HP part number, not by the model number of the wireless card.

If the PC doesn't have the two wifi antennas, then the easiest thing to do to add dual band wifi capability to your PC would be to purchase an external USB AC wifi adapter.

 

That's what I have on my HP desktop PC's.

 

Adding internal antennas is tricky and unless you know exactly where they are to be positioned, then the reception will be lousy if it works at all.

 

And there are no manuals to show you that kind of information.

Ok. I have 2 linksys wusb600n adapters i use now. I just thought it would be cool to have it built intk the pc. Thanks again.

I have the Linksys WUSB 6100 which I got for free with a linksys router purchase, and a linksys AE3000 on my other one.

 

They would great.

 

If you really, really would prefer an internal setup, you can purchase something like this. 

 

I have been tempted to do so but have not taken the plunge.

 

It's not completely internal as you would have to position the outside antenna somewhere on top of the PC or on a desk.
