Why is it taking forever to download zipped files from an FTP. This is ridiculous. Just bought this thing yesterday and I believe I am going to return it. I can't.

The downloading speed of Files from FTP site is factored by
#1 Size and number of files
#2 Speed of your internet connection
#3 Wirless router Speed .
#4 how much your internet service provider lets you upload in a day and other factors.
I would sugges you to plug your PC with a network cable direct to the internet Port for faster speed .
hopes it helps!

Hello,
Which FTP server is it? As mentioned in the previous answer, it could be due to different factors, with the added possibility that the host for the FTP server is also contributing to the speed issue.
Is the PC also slow in other tasks like web browsing or streaming?
Thanks.

Besides the factors that feedbacked by Andrea and hpdev,
If you are using wireless, please also check wireless signal strength,
or plug in wired internet connection to see if there is any differece.

Hi
What speed can/does the FTP serve at?
If it is busy or limited bandwidth it may only allow "slow" connections.
Belgium 13 Gbps 4 mirrors
Belnet 10 Gbps
Cu.be Solutionsc 2 Gbps
Nucleus1 Gbps
Ubuntu.mirrors.skynet.be 10 Mbps
EG: If you live in Belgium, you may get great chocolate all around the country, but ftp is patchy.
You could connect to the 10Mbps of (SKYNET) and the download crawls, or the 10Gbps (BELNET) and have it fly.
So is it your perception, HP or the FTP site?
